Sophie Sellu launched her handcrafted wooden homeware brand, Grain & Knot, back in 2013, after she was inspired by a spoon carving and bushcraft workshop. Her beautifully curated brand quickly attracted thousands of followers online, turning her passion project into a full-time business. Sophie still handmakes each one of her beautifully tactile and fully functional products from reclaimed timber in her home studio in London.

Sophie’s store was her opportunity to bring her passion to life in the real world. Designed by Fred Rigby, the store revealed the transparency of the Grain & Knot process and gave the public the chance to take part in in-store workshops, ask questions, and learn unique skills. It aimed to break down the social barriers that many associate with working in studios and provide people with the confidence to try something new.
